"THz-Detector based on Quantum Dots“ online in ACS Photonics
Using quantum dots developed by this year's Nobel Prize winner in chemistry, Moungi Bawendi, we demonstrate a new type of detector antenna for ultrafast terahertz fields. A reverse voltage breaks the symmetry of the quantum dot signal (quantum confined Stark effect) and generates a linear detector response, which is sensitive to the THz polarity.
